Accelerating the journeys of gamechangers: Haleem Khan and Shekhar Naik

The INK Fellows program aims to bring together a community of young, global, innovative change-makers and set them up for success. Every year, INK identifies and nurtures 20 young achievers who are passionate to redefine the fields they are in. The INK Fellows program aims to bring together a community of young, global, innovative change-makers and set them up for success. 

Guru Krupa Foundation (GKF) has approved a grant in the amount of to the INK Global Foundation to be divided between two INK fellows, Shekar Naik L and Haleem Khan. These funds will be utilized at the Shekar Naik Foundation, a cricket academy for the visually impaired and for the creation of a dance studio in India & global learning centres for international students that will be managed by Haleem Khan.
Shekhar Naik  is an Indian blind cricketer and a former captain of the India National blind cricket team. He captained India to victories at the T20 Blind Cricket World Cup in 2012 and Blind Cricket World Cup in 2014. He has also been awarded the Padma Shri award in 2017. In 2019 , Shekhar conducted quarterly camps for visually impaired students from rural India – started with Karnataka. Currently, Shekhar and his team are working on restarting the cricket and education camps for visually impaired as life is coming back to normal, next 6 months the grant from GKF will be used to resume and create regular activities as in 2019.

Haleem Khan is an Indian Kuchipudi dancer, performer and movie actor. In 2020 he faced many hardships as COVID – 19 affected his entire family. Haleem transitioned to providing virtual classes for his students. Currently, Haleem has resumed regular classes and digital outreach. With the help of the grant Haleem will be able to make music and create a USP for the dance performances and create a blueprint for future activity. This music for the dance performance will also be used for fundraising activities.
