Sarath has been a wildlifer for the past 22 years. Having grown up reading Corbett's stories, his tryst with wildlife was sparked with a trip to Jim Corbett N. P., way back in 1983. Sarath joined the CCA-Taj joint venture in January 2006 as Chief Naturalist and Head Trainer. He is now building a dream team of Indian Naturalists to delight all Taj Safaris guests on a daily basis!
Sarath has a rich experience in guiding and has lead many prestigious wildlife groups. He has traveled the world far and wide, and knows India's every crevice back to front. He even used to lead small wildlife groups to East Africa for 5 years. He has assisted many international researchers and filmmakers in the field. He has worked closely with the Karnataka Forest Dept. in various field programs including wildlife census operations, training of forest guards and wild elephant capturing operations. He has also worked closely with local communities. He is the founder-president of Kabini Foundation, an NGO working for wildlife conservation through the local community, in Kabini area of south Nagarahole.
He loves a bit of adventure combined with natural history and has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro successfully in August 2005. He is next planning a trip in 2007 to track down the elusive Snow Leopards in the Himalayas.
